Stick it to a window. The window becomes the speaker.
The Dasonus Surface Speaker doesn't push sound through the air like a normal speaker. It sends vibrations into whatever it's touching, and that surface does the work for it. A pane of glass, a wooden door, a cardboard box, the lid of a laptop.
It fits in your palm. It does not sound like it fits in your palm.
Why it's different
- 🔊 The surface is the speaker. A 3W bone conduction transducer turns any hard, hollow surface into a full sound board.
- 🪟 Every surface sounds different. Glass is bright and crisp, wood is warm, an empty box is all bass. Half the fun is trying things.
- 🤏 Smaller than a stack of coins. 4cm across, 2cm thick, 130g. It lives in a bag, a glovebox or a coat pocket.
- 🔗 Pairs in seconds. Bluetooth 5.0. Works with any phone, tablet or laptop.
- 🛠️ Metal, not plastic. An aluminium alloy body that handles being thrown in a bag.
How it works
- Charge it over USB, then pair it with your phone over Bluetooth.
- Press it firmly onto a hard, flat surface. A window, a table, a door, a tin, a box.
- Press play. The surface picks up the vibration and turns into the speaker.
The rule of thumb: hard and hollow is loud, soft and solid is quiet. Glass, thin wood, metal and cardboard sing. A thick stone worktop, a carpet or a sofa arm won't do much.

Common questions
Does it work on any surface?
Almost any hard, flat one, but they don't all sound the same. Thin, rigid and hollow surfaces are the loudest because there's more of them free to vibrate. A window, a hollow door, a desk, a biscuit tin, a cardboard box. Soft, thick or heavily padded surfaces absorb the vibration instead of carrying it.
Will it mark the surface?
No. It rests against the surface rather than sticking to it permanently, and it comes away clean.
Is it actually loud?
On the right surface, considerably louder than you'd expect from something this size, because you're hearing a whole window or table rather than a small cone. On the wrong surface it's quiet. Finding the good surfaces in a room takes about a minute.
Do I need my phone?
Yes. It's a Bluetooth speaker, so it plays whatever your phone, tablet or laptop is playing.

Questions, answered
Will my partner really not hear it?
At normal night-time volume the pillow muffles the sound and keeps it close to your ear. Turn it right up and they will hear it. The point is that you don't need it loud.
Can I feel it under my pillow?
Most people don't. It sits flat under the pillow rather than under your head.
Will I still hear my alarm?
On most phones the alarm sounds from the phone itself rather than through Bluetooth, so it wakes you as normal. Behaviour varies between handsets, so it's worth testing yours on the first night.
